Sprigging- is usually common with warm-season grasses such as Bermuda, Zoysia, and St. Augustine. The sprig is the grass stem and roots. Sprigs are normally produced by simply tearing apart the sod or purchasing already cut sprigs. Bare Spot Solutions employs a SprigMaster II sprig planting machine which allows us to cut fresh sprigs from big roll sod. Our SprigMaster II has two pair of discs set at two inches apart that incorporate the fresh sprigs into the soil. The built-in roller will smooth the field right after the sprigs are planted. This method allows for 35 % faster grow in and is a cost alternative over solid sod.
